I became a teenager the day “I Want to Hold Your Hand” hit the Billboard charts. Little has changed. I like music. I also like golf and basketball, poetry, sudoku, small cars, quiet lakes, old movies, dogs who don’t bark or bite, children who also don’t bark or bite, contemporary fiction and cuisine, frisbee, Jamaica, Paris, birds in the morning and stars at night. The cheddary zing of Packers fans notwithstanding, this Chicagolander feels quite included on Madison’s east side—a very decent place go out for a walk.

When someone says they don’t want to deal with the crowds, I suspect the crowds are there for a good reason.

Retired from daily employ, I hope to step up the writing—particularly on the short fiction side.
